All visits are with Jen Mason, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Topics may include: assessing latch and positioning, weighing your baby, investigating the cause of sore nipples, the benefits of skin-to-skin time, education regarding typical newborn behavior, signs of tongue and lip tie, markers of low supply and IGT, expressing milk and planning to return to work, paced bottle feeding, alternate feeding methods, beginning complementary foods, support for choosing when and how to wean, full term nursing and more! We will work through any challenges to help families meet their own breastfeeding goals. An initial visit typically lasts about 1.5 - 2 hours and can be scheduled at the convenience to you and your baby. ($160 initial visit / $100 each additional visit)
Private prenatal and preadoptive visits are available to help start breastfeeding and parenting your new baby off as confident, knowledgeable parents! Pre-baby visits include discussing what to expect in the first hours and days, advocating for yourself and your new baby, feeding positions that tend to work best for new parents and babies, why spending time skin to skin is so important, signs that your baby is getting enough milk and when to worry. If there are any current indications or prior breastfeeding challenges with other children, actions that can be taken pre-baby to help support breastfeeding this time around are also discussed. Prenatal visits also discuss childbirth considerations. Preadoptive visits also cover protocols for inducing lactation. A visit typically lasts about 1 - 1.5 hours. ($100 prenatal visit / $100 preadoptive visit)
