AFTER YOU BOOK
Thank you for scheduling with Twin Cities Lactation LLC. Below you’ll find next steps and helpful information to make your visit as smooth, supportive, and effective as possible. If you have questions, concerns, or something feels unclear, please reach out. I look forward to seeing you soon.
GENERAL POLICIES & EXPECTATIONS
Please complete all intake forms and consent paperwork sent to your email prior to your appointment. Visits cannot begin without completed paperwork.I may occasionally run late due to the complexity of previous visits. If I am running more than 5–10 minutes behind, I will text you to let you know. For in-home visits, there are no requirements around where we meet. Please choose a space where you and your baby are comfortable. A chair is appreciated, but I’m also fine sitting on the floor.
PETS IN THE HOME
For in-home visits, please plan to secure any pets in another room during our appointment. I have allergies to animals, and this helps me stay comfortable and focused during your visit. If you have pets in the home, please let me know ahead of time so I can plan accordingly (including masking if needed). I am still able to provide care in homes with pets—clear communication simply helps prevent allergy flare-ups.
LACTATION CONSULTATIONS – HOW TO PREPARE
Please write down any questions you’d like to cover so nothing gets forgotten during the visit. If helpful, have any photos or videos related to feeding concerns available.Try to schedule your visit for about 30 minutes before a feeding, or as close to that as possible. If your baby is very hungry or upset beforehand, it is okay to feed briefly to soothe them.Try not to feed them completely full so we can still observe a feeding together.
If your baby is not feeding well at the breast/chest, please have pumped milk or formula available as backup.Babies are often weighed during lactation visits. Please:Dress baby in easy-to-remove clothingHave a couple of clean diapers available to zero out the scaleA swaddle or small cloth is helpful, as the scale may be cold from being in my car
If you would like support with pumps, bottles, or other lactation equipment, please have those items out and ready (or bring them to your visit).
***Please note: All lactation consults include Craniosacral Therapy for the newborn/infant as part of care.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY (CST) SESSIONS – HOW TO PREPARE
Please complete all intake forms and consent paperwork prior to your appointment.Write down any questions or observations you’d like to discuss, and feel free to bring photos or videos if relevant. Please try to feed baby before the CST visit when possible. If baby needs to eat during the session, that is completely okay—babies are never deprived of feeding. Please dress baby in clothing that is easy to remove, as I assess reflexes and subtle responses to the work.Baby will always remain in at least a diaper during the session.
For in-home visits, choose a comfortable space where you and your baby can settle in. When office visits are applicable, there will be space to feed, change baby, and show up exactly as you are.
***Important clarifications***
Craniosacral Therapy is a distinct service focused on body-based assessment and support.Weights are not a part of CST-only visits and are completed only during lactation consults.CST-only appointments do not include latch assessment or breastfeeding care planning. If during a CST visit it becomes clear that lactation assessment, hands-on feeding support, or a feeding care plan is needed, this will be clearly communicated as a change in service and billed as an initial or follow-up lactation consult, rather than as a standalone CST session. If you’re unsure which visit type best fits your needs, please email me prior to your appointment so we can schedule appropriately.
