Services Offered:
Prenatal Lactation Education:
Discuss lactation goals (includes direct nursing, pumping, and combo feeding), address concerns, and develop a mental health focused feeding plan for the first weeks of lifeIncluding guidance on initiating nursing in the first few hours after birth and help parents understand what to expect in the early days.
Discuss the anatomy of the breast/chest, milk production, and various breast/chestfeeding techniques and positions.
***This education is VERY beneficial and can help parents feel more confident and prepared when their baby(s) arrives.Feeding Assessments:
Evaluation of the feeding process, observing and assessing the latch, positioning, and milk transfer to ensure optimal feeding (by identifying and addressing any challenges or obstacles, I work to help parents achieve pain-free and effective chest/breastfeeding)Includes full body assessment of the infant as well as an intra-oral assessment of the baby to assess for oral restrictions (ie Tongue, Lip, Buccal Ties).
Oral Rehabilitation Therapy (ORT)™:
Oral and body exercises to help guide newborn/infant to a more relaxed and neutral state to support their development. ORT also aides families preparing for oral release (Lip, Tongue, Buccal Ties, etc).ORT exercise plans are included in all consults. However, if a family is also pursing release, ORT plans are slightly more structured with different check-in models.Bodywork is included with ORT and helps facilitate areas of release in tight, tense areas in the infant to support oral and body function in preparation
Managing Breast/chestfeeding Challenges:
Holistic support and management of general and advanced breast/chest challenges such as nipple pain, engorgement, low milk supply, difficulty with latch, oversupply, etc.
Assistance with Pumping and Bottle-Feeding:
Guidance on pumping techniques and selecting the right breast pump, flange sizing, and establishing a pumping routineBottle refusal/aversions including finding the right bottle nipple to assist baby in accepting the bottle
Supporting Special Situations:
Specialized support and information; helping parents establish a feeding plan to ensure promote milk supply and successful nursing in various capacities with their baby(s).Twins, premature babies, infants with special needs, inducing lactation, etc.
